Rock Ed Philippines-Ortigas Foundation Volunteerism Sessions

Rock Ed Philippines-Ortigas Foundation Volunteerism Sessions
April 6 and April 21, 2006

Rock Ed spent two afternoons with the employees of the Ortigas and Company, Limited Partnership this April. The Ortigas Foundation, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility program, sponsored Rock Ed sessions with Noel Cabangon. Volunteers came in full force. Helping out with the sign-up table is Kapatid’s lead man, Karl Roy. (nag pa-plancha pa sya ng polo, mind you.) In any case, we had a great time talking and listening about volunteerism and nation building with the cool bunch from the Ortigas Foundation. Many other NGOs were present. Jesuit Volunteers of the Philippines was there, Gawad Kalinga representatives, the Meralco Foundation projects were also presented and capping off the two sessions was a performance by Rock Ed’s Noel Cabangon. From here, we are certain, that projects will take shape.

Nation-building comes in many forms. One of which is paying proper taxes especially when gainly employed. Beyond this, the work force of the Ortigas Group of companies have decided to take it a step further and encourage each other to volunteer for NGOs and projects that will possibly force them out of their comfort zones.
