DUYAN KA NG MAGITING.*"
Several Volunteers from DAKILA** a group of artists committed to social awareness pushing for social change and Rock Ed Philippines, an anti-poverty alternative education group met the break of dawn with a mission: to clean the monument celebrating the geography of our country.
Handshakes and muck, grime and sweat, sun and rain and a very hesitant rainbow, music and mud, dirty feet and dancing made up the first day of the clean up.
YOU STILL HAVE TIME!
Go to the Philippine Relief Map of Luneta ANYTIME this weekend. (Sat/Sun, 28-29 January 2006) Bring anyone. Invite more people to join the voice that says NO MORE EXCUSES, PHILIPPINES. Linisin ang Bayan, ngayon.
You will find that the pool holding the relief map of our country has been very murky the past years. Years of neglect took its toll on the treasured monument celebrating our archipelago. But not anymore. Dakila's statement says, you do not have to be shot in Luneta to be a hero. You have the power to make a difference. And Rock Ed says, at the same time, it is in the little habits that the destiny of a nation is formed.
This weekend, the area surrounding the fountain will be a space for music, work, dancing, cleaning, poetry and camaraderie! We encourage you to bring your own cleaning brushes, gloves, cleaning materials if possible and be open to enjoying an interestingly whimsical yet nobly historic day.
Join Tado, Ronnie Lazaro, Buwi Meneses of Parokya ni Edgar, Cooky Chua of Color it Red, Radioactive Sago's Lourd de Veyra, Dong Abay, Chin Chin Gutierrez, Paolo Santos, and many more artists from Dakila and Rock Ed Philippines. Get involved in cleaning our country. In any way.
Prepare to get dirty with us because this is a good time to make our statement loud and CLEAN: Linisin ang Bayan! Dakila tayo.
Dakila ka, Pilipinas.
