Luneta Park

DAKILA KA, PILIPINAS!
Philippine Relief Map Cleaning Project
Rock Ed joins Dakila, a group of artists and musicians who banded together to take on issues addressing social change. For the kick-off project of 2006, the two groups invite everyone to help clean Luneta Park’s Philippine relief map and the pool surrounding it. This monument celebrating our geography was cleaned over twelve years ago by a group of artists (Ronnie Lazaro, Lav Diaz, etc) and this year they’ve decided to do it again. This time with Dakila and the volunteers of Rock Ed Philippines.
Dakila’s convenors Ronnie Lazaro and Lourd de Veyra are also part of the core group of Rock Ed, and they are joined by character actor Tado and Parokya ni Edgar’s bass guitarist, Buwi Meneses.
We invite schools and organizations to field volunteers to help out on that day. Scrubbing and cleaning are in order so come in outfits that can handle dirt and grime. More than a clean up project, this is a figurative statement we want to make.
“Linisin ang Pilipinas!” Literally. Para malinaw ang pakay.
The volunteer fire brigades of the Chinese community have generously offered their help. We call on University organizations, NGO’s and individuals to text us at 0906-271-7287 or email rockedphilippines@yahoo.com if you want to take on a shift.
