Rock Ed KTV Jam Series Launched!
(aka “Lahat magkaka-rock, okay?”)

BookBigayan night @mag:net  café
Katipunan Ave, Quezon City
One of our main businesses in Rock Ed is to collect books.  We accept donated textbooks, literature, educational magazines and in turn, we bring them to public school libraries to augment their resource materials. But we don’t just collect them, we collect donations with a flourish.  Case in point, the night of Nov 13, 2006.

That Monday was BookBigayan Night at mag:net café along Katipunan.  We set up a KTV jam night that featured rock scene heavyweights like the lead voice of Sandwich, Raimund Marasigan, Twisted Halo’s Vin Dancel, Dicta License’s Pochoy Labog, Kjwan’s guitarist, Jorel Corpus.  We also had, as part of the line up, the Dorque’s drummer, Aimee Marcos, veteran theater actor, Ronnie Lazaro, SPIT’s Gabe Mercado, Brigada’s Inky de Dios, with special numbers from the mag:net café waiters.  With no full-band set up, no support musicians; with only the Karaoke list of songs to choose from plus the elevator-muzak quality accompaniment; the audience genuinely enjoyed the desperately un-cool song renditions of these fantastic performers.  Cheers to them for being so game to take on the KTV mic – and how! Our guest performers officially brought sexy back to Karaoke nights. Karaoke is the new black.

Aah, the things we do to get you to clean up your shelves and donate your old books to us.

Watch out for the next BookBigayan KTV night @mag:net cafe, Thursday Dec 28, 2006
