Rock Ed Dagupan is about to be launched this Saturday, Nov 25 2006. Spearheaded by Mr. Rex Lor, the faculty of the Escuela de Nuestra Senora de La Salette will host a ROCK ED STUDENT LEADERS RALLY. This will be a gathering of student leaders from the following schools in Dagupan: Dominican School, Mother Goose Special Science High School, La Marea Academy, Pangasinan Universal Institute, University of Pangasinan- HS Dept., Divine Word Academy of Dagupan, St. John Cathedral School, St. Albert the Great School and Ednas School.
In cooperation with the Dagupan City Private Schools Principals League, (PSPL) the organizers will be hosting two volunteer bands accompanied by the Rock Ed group. The concert will feature Blazing Bulalakaws and the winner of this year’s Muziklaban competition, HardBoiled Eggz.
What is to be considered a historic undertaking, this coalition of schools have planned a Rock Ed style of making sure their voices are heard. Within the Rock Ed concert, there will be speeches. I will give one entitled “A Challenge to the Student Leaders” while the PSPL representative will give one surrounding the topic of “The Youth as Part of Nation-Building.” A student leader will be asked to give a reaction speech. After all the rocking and rallying on with positive rhetoric, there will be a covenant signing. Everyone will be asked to sign a manifesto that speaks of being more involved in solutions addressing the issue of poverty in the area and in effect, the whole country. (see photo)
With these high school leaders stepping up front and center in this battle against apathy, we should all be having a little more faith in our country. A little more faith that Rock Ed will change the future of our nation, one teen-ager at a time.
Mabuhay ang mga taga Dagupan. Mabuhay ang Pilipino. Dahil sa atin, mabubuhay ang Pilipinas.
