
Barely a month after launching Rock Ed Cagayan de Oro, JCI hoisted their first major event. Rock Ed-CDO is officially open for business. Volunteer now.
Last April 13-19, 2008, JCI Cagayan de Oro celebrated JCI Week, among the many projects and activities prepared for this annual festivities is BUHrock, Banig Ulan Habol drive concert in cooperation with Rock ED Cagayan de Oro and SM City Cagayan de Oro. This activity was held last April 19 saturday at SM City Cagayan de Oro Entertainment Center. It featured 12 local bands which composed Rock Ed Cagayan de Oro, who shared their talents to raise awareness regarding the problems in the country's penal system and the plight of the inmates.
Before the concert started, documentaries courtesy of Rock Ed Philippines and Gang Badoy were shown to the audience. JCI Cagayan de Oro in connection with its "Beyond Prison Walls" program, will give the donations collected to the inmates of the Provincial Jail.
This noble endeavor was a big success, many mall shoppers enjoyed the show and have been enlightened after having seen the documentaries. Many have expressed their willingness to share something to ease the condition of the Provincial jail prisoners.
JCI Cagayan de Oro president, Atty. Vincent K. Pelaez gave a message to the audience relating to the problems of the inmates of the Provincial jail and expressed hope that what the audience learned during the said activity will have a lasting impression. He also thanked 89.3 Killer Bee who monitored the concert over the radio, Mr. John Dharamdas the over all chairman of the JCI Week who worked with the project chairman Mr. Chuck Bollozos for organizing the activity and SM City Cagayan de Oro.
