Rock Ed Philippines Joins the
Global Call to Action Against Poverty
END POVERTY NOW!
One of ROCK ED's biggest projects this year is supporting the Global Call to Action Against Poverty. Some of the volunteers' efforts go to promoting the white band movement.
Bono is on board. For the MTV afficionado, this is the same campaign as ONE USA and Make Poverty History in the UK. Rock Ed is spearheading the "No More Excuses, Philippines" media campaign.
GCAP is a worldwide alliance committed to making world leaders live up to their promises, and to making a breakthrough on poverty in 2005. Over 60 countries are actively campaigning under the GCAP banner, all coordinating around 3 key dates this year. Wear a simple white band to show your support.
July 1 - G8 Summit in Scotland where the Heads of State of the eight richest nations will gather in a meeting that can possibly determine the global debt situation.
Sep 10 - the United Nations Heads of State Summit. Mid-decade follow up from the Sept 2000 Summit where the Millennium Development Goals Declaration was signed by over 190 member countries. The most attended UN Summit in its history.
Dec 10 - Aside from being Human Rights Day, it is the World Trade Organization's Ministerial Meeting in Hong Kong.

Poverty is not inevitable. World leaders must do more to end poverty. Civil society, private citizens like us must be more vigilant.
Wada na Todo Abhiyan Keep the promise. One USA. Make Poverty History UK. Fair Shares France. Hottokenai, Japan.
No More Excuses, Philippines!
